Quality posts about the web are like buses

You wait for ages for something interesting and high quality to roll into your RSS feed inbox and then three come along at once. Some great stuff this morning on the subject of the viability of the semantic web and the need for open standards for social networks or what is being called by some the 'social graph'.

First the ever-readable Alex Iskold at read/write web covers a pragmatic approach to the semantic web

Then Brad Feld followed up with a nice summary about the implicit web saying that the semantic web can be your friend

And just to round things off Brady Forest of O'Reilly covered XFN and open standards for social networks

I will probably have a long wait for the next bus.

Sir Tim Berners-Lee explains the semantic web

A good interview from ZDNet with Sir Tim Berners-Lee explaining the semantic web (nice piano in the background).

I didn't know about Sparql which is described as SQL for the semantic web.

Interesting to think of RDF as allowing anything to be mashed-up without having to write any code. It's hard to make standards exciting but Sir Tim does a pretty good job.
